Graffiti treasure trove
There's a street in Villa Madalena, a neighbourhood in western São Paulo, that has been given over to graffiti artists. The work there is extraordinary - orginal and striking, with identifiable elements of the art's roots mixed with Brazilian sensibilities of sex, politics and nature. My favourite mural at the site, a kind of triptych, incorporates all these themes into its imagery and even manages to fully incorporate an actual tree.
